FC Porto launch digital memorial in tribute to Pinto da Costa | OneFootball

On a day of tributes, FC Porto have launched a digital memorial honouring Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa, marking one year since his death.

The club said in a statement that the platform will allow anyone, anywhere, to quickly grasp the scale of the tribute paid by the FC Porto community.

At 20:35 on 15 February 2025, a Saturday, the club confirmed via its official website that Pinto da Costa had died. He had fought a long battle with prostate cancer, which he acknowledged was malignant.

He was 87, a member for 71 years, spent more than six decades in club roles, and served as president for 42 years, leaving a unique legacy.

The digital memorial sets out his body of work, reflecting 2594 titles across multiple sports, including 69 in football, alongside the club’s global growth during his four decades in charge. It also details the construction of the permanent memorial, recalling testimonies, messages and images from that period.
