FC Porto have begun preparations for 2026/27, aiming to retain the national title for the first time since 2012/13, with André Villas-Boas and Francesco Farioli setting a demanding tone from day one.

According to O Jogo, the squad gathered at the Olival at eight in the morning with the president and head coach before physical tests and the first training session, and the message echoed signals Farioli had offered before the break.

The group understand that the campaign ahead will be more demanding and will require double the effort. With Porto back in the Champions League, last season's level puts a target on their backs from the outset.

Complacency is to be avoided despite the champions' shield on the shirt, and standards must rise. The slate is blank, yet the club's past should inspire humility in work and the ambition to better 2025/26.

The season's first piece of silverware is the Supertaça, pitting Porto against Torreense, the Taça de Portugal winners. It is scheduled for Estádio Municipal de Coimbra on a date to be confirmed between 31 July and 2 August.
