FC Porto’s André Oliveira undergoes left knee surgery in Madrid

FC Porto’s André Oliveira underwent successful surgery on his left knee in Madrid on Wednesday after a complete anterior cruciate ligament rupture, the club said.

The 20-year-old midfielder was injured in FC Porto B’s 0-0 draw with Oliveirense on 16 March, part of the 26th round of the II Liga.

With no complications in the Spanish capital, he will now return to the Centro de Treinos e Formação Desportiva Jorge Costa, no Olival, where FC Porto’s medical staff will oversee his recovery.

Oliveira has made 17 appearances for the B side this season, three as a starter.

He was also called up by coach Francesco Farioli for the first team’s home win over Arouca, 3-1, in the 24th round of the I Liga, remaining an unused substitute.
