Federico Chiesa (28) has described a “silent” Liverpool dressing room in the aftermath of their 3-2 defeat to Brentford, a result that marked the Reds’ fourth consecutive Premier League loss and deepened their early-season crisis.

The atmosphere at the Gtech Community Stadium was one of disbelief and frustration as Liverpool, the reigning champions, slumped to their fourth league defeat, equalling their total number of losses from last season’s title-winning campaign.

“No one was speaking,” Chiesa admitted to Sky Sports. “Sometimes you don’t have to talk, everyone knows. We all understand what’s going on. It was good that we didn’t say much because it shows everyone wants to change things.”

The Italian winger, one of the few bright sparks in recent weeks, stressed the squad’s determination to respond, starting with Wednesday’s Carabao Cup fourth-round tie against Crystal Palace.

“I always think positive,” he added. “We have the quality, we have fantastic players and a fantastic manager. I believe we’ll bounce back, winning brings winning.”
