Felipe Melo has reflected on his changing relationship with Flamengo, saying he was once deeply attached to the club and even put in his own money, but after playing for many teams he no longer supports just one.

"I was very Flamengo, really very Flamengo. During the brick campaign, I put in my own money. I grew up there, it was more than 11 years at the club. But over my career, I cannot say I support a single team," he said on Seleção SporTV.

"I have affection and gratitude for Flamengo. I have often said I love Palmeiras and Fluminense, and that I am completely in love with Galatasaray in Türkiye. When you pass through several clubs and situations, it is hard to choose," he added.

Melo began his career at Flamengo and took part in the Tijolinho drive that helped launch construction at the Ninho do Urubu training centre.

After spells in Brazil and Europe, he sought a return to Flamengo, which did not happen, and he later regularly teased the Rubro-Negro during stints with Palmeiras and Fluminense.

Meanwhile, Flamengo prepare for Botafogo on Saturday 14, round six of the Brasileirão, with kick-off at 20:30 Brasília time at Estádio Nilton Santos.
