According to Turkish-Football.com, Fenerbahçe have opened preliminary discussions over a permanent move for Tottenham midfielder Pape Matar Sarr.

The Istanbul side explored Sarr last summer, and have revisited the idea ahead of the coming window, amid upheaval at Spurs on the pitch and in the dugout.

Sarr joined from Metz in 2022 and has made over 130 appearances for the Premier League club. He is under contract until 2030, yet his position at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium appears increasingly uncertain.

Tottenham are in a relegation fight, sitting one point above the bottom three. Dropping to the Championship would almost certainly prompt an exodus of leading players, with Sarr among the most valuable.

New manager Roberto De Zerbi is rumoured to be planning a midfield overhaul. With Yves Bissouma reportedly set to depart on a free and links to Juventus midfielder Manuel Locatelli, Sarr could be sold to finance changes.

Fenerbahçe are said to be weighing a bid of around €35 million. It is unclear whether they will meet Spurs’ demands or whether Sarr would swap the Premier League for the Süper Lig.

If a deal proves too complex, Fenerbahçe are expected to pursue alternative options as they aim to strengthen for domestic and European challenges next season.
