Team news:

Former Leicester forward Cengiz Under is expected to miss Thursday’s clash, after suffering a groin injury in their 1-1 away draw with Twente in Gameweek Two.

Dutch defender Jayden Oosterwolde is facing a long spell on the sidelines after picking up an ACL injury in Sunday’s draw at Samsunspor.

Ex-United midfielders Fred and Sofyan Amrabat are expected to play against their former club, while former Premier League stars Edin Dzeko, Dusan Tadic and Allan Saint-Maximin could also feature.

Casemiro suffered a calf problem in the win over the Bees on Saturday and is unlikely to start on Thursday, while Kobbie Mainoo is not likely to return until next month due to a hamstring injury.

Ten Hag is also still without defensive trio Luke Shaw, Harry Maguire and Leny Yoro, while Mason Mount is also expected to miss out.

Ten Hag and Mourinho go head-to-head

Saturday’s home win over Brentford ended a five-game run without a victory for the Red Devils, which has helped ease the pressure slightly on their manager.

Erik ten Hag survived another international break and will now hope for a run of positive results to help the owners to keep the faith.

The Dutchman has watched his side draw with both Twente and Porto in this competition – results which have left the Red Devils in 21st place in the new Europa League format.

They now come up against a Fenerbahce team who are unbeaten in their last four games in all competition – which includes a 2-1 win over Union Saint-Gilloise in their first game in this competition.

The main story going into the clash is Jose Mourinho coming up against his former club, with the ‘Special One’ looking to pile on the problems for United.

Mourinho admitted in his press conference that there is “no reason” for United to be afraid of Fenerbahce, but that they “will know it’s not an easy game” for them.

The Turkish Super Lig side have lost just one of their last 11 competitive games at the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium, which was a 3-1 league defeat to Galatasaray last month.

United have won all three of their previous meetings with Fenerbahce and won nine and drawn four of their 20 matches against Turkish opponents.
