Evan Ferguson has bid a final farewell to Roma.

The Irish striker, who arrived in the capital from Brighton last summer, will not be signed by the Giallorossi and will return to England.

In a video on his Instagram profile, the young striker thanked the fans and his now former teammates: “No one wants his time to be cut short, but injuries are part of the game.”

He continued, describing some images of his brief time with the Giallorossi: “Thank you to everyone at Roma and the fans for their support over the past few months. I wish my teammates and the entire club all the best for the future. Forza Roma.”

Ferguson joined Roma on loan with an option to buy last July. He scored five goals in 22 appearances. After suffering several injuries, always to his ankle, he was permanently sidelined after the Europa League match against Stuttgart.

In March, repeated relapses and severe pain in his ankle finally prompted the medical staff of Roma and Brighton to opt for permanent surgery, ending his season with the Giallorossi prematurely.
