FERJ confirms Flamengo v Botafogo Carioca quarter-final for Sunday at Nilton Santos | OneFootball

FERJ announced on Monday night that Flamengo will face Botafogo in a single-leg Campeonato Carioca quarter-final on Sunday 15 at Estádio Nilton Santos, the Engenhão. Kick-off is scheduled for half past five Brasília time.

Few alternative dates were available. The derby could not be staged on Saturday 14, as Botafogo face Fluminense in the Brasileirão on Thursday 12. With a Libertadores trip to Potosí on Wednesday 18, Botafogo were also unable to play on Monday 16.

Flamengo’s schedule is lighter by comparison. They play Vitória on Tuesday 10, this quarter-final on Sunday 15, then return on 19 February away to Lanús (ARG) in the Recopa Sudamericana.

The winner will meet the side that advances from Madureira v Boavista, who face off on Friday 13 February at Conselheiro Galvão. Elsewhere in the Carioca, Fluminense play Bangu and Vasco meet Volta Redonda.

Botafogo hold home advantage on the Engenhão’s synthetic surface after topping Group B in the first phase. Flamengo finished fourth. If the tie ends level, a penalty shootout will decide the qualifier.
