FC Barcelona were able to get over another La Liga game with a win, as they beat Getafe with a 2-0 scoreline to get an 11-point cushion at the top of the league table.
However, this was not really an easy win to get, especially with the way Getafe defend. Thus, the opening goal, scored by Fermin Lopez, was very important for the Blaugranes.
As Mundo Deportivo has reported, the Spaniard also talked to the media after this win, and talked about this goal in particular in the following words:
“Getafe defend well and, in that recovery, Pedri played an incredible pass to me, honestly, and I was able to score.”
The midfielder clarified that they knew how difficult this match was going to be:
“We were very aware of what was going to happen here. We were going to have few chances, and we played well, competed hard, and took the chances we had going forward.”
Fermin also took this opportunity to remember Lamine Yamal, who is out for the rest of the season with an injury:
“I send him a hug from here. He’s very important for us. It’s a shame he can’t play, but the most important thing is that he recovers well and is ready for the World Cup.”
Like Hansi Flick, the midfielder also believed it was still too early to celebrate the league title:
“We know we have a big advantage, but there are still games left. We must not relax; I know it’s a cliché, but it’s true. We’ll try to keep this form until we become champions.”
As Fermin Lopez commented, everyone knew how difficult this match was going to be, especially with Raphinha and Lamine Yamal both unavailable. Fortunately, Fermin stepped up in this game to give his Barcelona side the full three points.
