Corinthians beat Grêmio 3-1 in the 18th round of the Brasileirão, yet Gui Negão again stayed on the bench under Fernando Diniz, extending his run without minutes to more than two months.

According to Meu Timao, Diniz faced a shortfall in forwards, with Vitinho and Kayke injured, Memphis Depay away with the Netherlands and Jesse Lingard in England for family matters.

The forward’s last appearance was the 1-1 draw with Flamengo on 22 March, when he played 12 minutes under Dorival Júnior. He reported to Brazil Under-20s the next day, then was cut after sustaining a grade 2 injury to the back of his right thigh.

After more than a month of treatment, he was available again on 3 May for the league match against Mirassol, but did not come on in the 2-1 defeat. Since then, Corinthians have played nine times, with him among the substitutes in six and left out of three squads.

He broke through impressively in the senior side, scoring important goals in the triumphant 2025 Copa do Brasil under Dorival Júnior. His level dipped in 2026, and he has not featured since Diniz took charge.

The Grêmio game was Corinthians’ final fixture before the World Cup break. His next official opportunity will come when the Brasileirão resumes against Remo, with a friendly against Cascavel set for 12 July.
