According to Meu Timao, Fernando Diniz’s Corinthians contract was registered on the CBF’s Boletim Informativo Diário on Tuesday night, clearing him to take charge against Platense in the Copa Libertadores opener.
The registration came hours after his unveiling news conference. Diniz was announced on Monday night, a day after Dorival Júnior was dismissed following Sunday’s 1-0 defeat by Internacional.
Corinthians moved quickly with two key fixtures this week, the Libertadores start and Sunday’s Dérbi with Palmeiras. Diniz had been the board’s plan A since Monday morning, with Sylvinho as back-up. Tite was also mentioned, with the possibility he pauses his career for a period.
Diniz has signed until the end of 2026. His staff will include assistant Léo Porto, fitness coach Wagner Berteli, analyst Lucas Vergne and physiologist Luís Fernando de Barros.
Corinthians will be the 16th club of his managerial career. His most recent post was at Vasco da Gama in 2025, where he took charge of 56 matches, winning 17, drawing 16 and losing 23, a 39.9% return. He still guided the Rio side to the Copa do Brasil final, where they were beaten by Corinthians.
With his deal now on the BID, Diniz could make his debut on Thursday at 21:00 against Platense at Ciudad de Vicente López, in the first round of the Libertadores.
