Fernando Diniz began work at Corinthians on Tuesday, meeting the squad and staff at CT Joaquim Grava after signing through 2026. He held two meetings with the group on his first morning.
According to Globo.com, the first meeting brought together employees, players, coaching staff and board members. The second was behind closed doors with only the players, without executive Marcelo Paz or president Osmar Stabile present.
Diniz was direct, acknowledging past achievements and praising individual quality, while stressing it is time to look ahead. He said the focus is on seeking protagonism in the Conmebol Libertadores and a recovery in the Campeonato Brasileiro.
With the team winless in nine and only five goals in that span, and amid daily protests at the training ground, he urged the group to protect themselves during the crisis. He asked for calm heads in dealing with the pressure outside CT Joaquim Grava, adding that wins would ease the strain and allow routines to return.
Diniz also outlined his working methods and the reasons behind his more forceful touchline demands, while lifting the squad’s morale and expressing belief that further success can follow. He will lead a second session on Wednesday morning to decide starters and reserves. After lunch, the squad travel to Buenos Aires to begin preparations for Thursday’s opener against Platense in the Conmebol Libertadores.
