The FFF supervisory board has requested explanations regarding the decision to abandon its complaint against OM president Pablo Longoria, adding to concerns already raised by the LFP and the referees’ unions SAFE and UNAF.
According to L'Équipe, a letter dated Friday 26 December was sent to FFF president Philippe Diallo and members of the executive committee. It asks why the FFF withdrew a complaint that had been filed jointly with the LFP and SAFE after Longoria criticised refereeing and the French Championship in February 2025 following a 3-0 loss at Auxerre, where he spoke of corruption.
The board highlighted the need for consistency between commitments recently adopted by the executive committee, under the federal plan to tackle violence and incivility, and earlier decisions in sensitive matters concerning federal authority and the protection of refereeing.
It requested clarity on the criteria that led the FFF to set aside certain institutional follow-ups, the decision-making chain, and how those commitments connect with operational choices. It added that exchanges and decisions after the public remarks about refereeing had prompted questions within the football ecosystem, particularly among referees.
The board concluded that such explanations are essential to judge the federation’s capacity to align its principles, decisions and communication at a time when institutional example is expected. For his comments in February, Longoria received a nine-month suspension from the Ligue’s disciplinary commission.
