The FIFA Women’s Champions Cup will crown its inaugural winner next month and the excitement is building. Four continental title winners will battle it out to lift the trophy in the first edition of this groundbreaking new tournament.

The initial six teams are now down to four as the final phase approaches. The semi-finals, final and third-place match will be held in London, giving local fans a great opportunity to see UEFA Women’s Champions League winners Arsenal challenge for the silverware.

Who is competing in the Women’s Champions Cup?

The Women’s Champions Cup features the six confederation champions from the previous full season. Those participating this year are Arsenal, Gotham FC, Corinthians, ASFAR, Auckland United FC and Wuhan Chegu Jiangda WFC.

The tournament consists of two initial rounds, which saw OFC Champions League winners Auckland United and AFC Champions League winners Wuhan Jiangda eliminated.

As a result, Arsenal (UWCL), Gotham FC (Concacaf), Corinthians (CONMEBOL) and ASFAR (CAF Champions League) progress to the semi-finals.

Women’s Champions Cup semi-final and final dates

The Women’s Champions Cup semi-finals will take place at Brentford’s Gtech Community Stadium on Wednesday, January 28th. Gotham FC will face Corinthians, while Arsenal are up against ASFAR.

The final and third-place deciding match will be held on Arsenal soil on February 1st. Here’s a full list of each match and its details:

Wednesday, January 28th — Semi-finals at Gtech Community Stadium

Gotham FC vs SC Corinthians (12:30 GMT)

Sunday, February 1st — Finals at Emirates Stadium

How often is the Women’s Champions Cup?

The FIFA Women’s Champions Cup will be played annually, during years between FIFA Women’s Club World Cups. The arrival of this tournament will ensure a continuous global events calendar within women’s football.

How much money will the winners earn?

A record-breaking amount of prize money is on offer to the first-ever women’s intercontinental club champions. The winners will receive an unprecedented $2.3 million (£1.68m) — the highest single payout ever awarded in women’s club football. Runners-up will earn $1 million (£733,000) as a result of reaching the grand final at the Emirates.

The semi-finalists who are eliminated will both receive $200,000 (£147,000) in participation payments. Auckland United and Wuhan Chegu Jiangda, who were knocked out in the earlier rounds, will both pocket $100,000 (£73,000) for their efforts.
