RC Strasbourg are already preparing for a change on the bench as Liam Rosenior moves closer to a departure from the club, with the English coach travelling to London on Sunday amid advanced discussions with Chelsea according to a report from L’Équipe.
Although Rosenior publicly downplayed the situation after Strasbourg’s 0–0 draw away at Nice on Saturday evening, Racing are now bracing for his exit. The squad were given Sunday off, and the club’s scheduled return to training on Monday will take place without Rosenior or his core staff, including assistants Khalifa Cissé and Justin Walker.
With a Coupe de France trip to Avranches scheduled for next Saturday, Strasbourg must now act quickly to ensure continuity. In the short term, assistants Filipe Coelho and Jean-Marc Kuentz are expected to oversee training sessions as per L’Équipe. Coelho, in particular, is viewed internally as a potential option to take charge on an interim basis.
The club is also exploring external solutions. Eric Ramsay, currently in charge of Minnesota United, is one of the names under consideration. Ramsay is represented by the same agency as Rosenior and has previous experience at Chelsea’s academy, where he worked for two years. Calum MacFarlane, who is currently serving as Chelsea’s interim coach, is another candidate being discussed.
One possibility has already been ruled out. Bodø/Glimt head coach Kjetil Knutsen will not be taking over in Alsace, having recently extended his contract with the Norwegian champions. Strasbourg’s next coach could therefore be appointed swiftly, as the club seeks to minimise disruption during a busy January schedule.
