Fiorentina are a club in disarray, as the early Serie A table sees the so-far winless Viola languishing down in 17th place. Their three points have come from three draws, and it’s just a matter of goal difference that keeps them above Verona and out of the bottom three.

This weekend’s 2-1 home defeat to Roma was the latest of several recent damning blows and has seemingly pushed a lot of fans at the Stadio Artemio Franchi over the edge.

As per a report from Corriere dello Sport, the leading organised fan group in the Curva Fiesole demands change. In a statement after the game, the exasperated fans officially asked president Rocco Commisso to “fire sporting director Daniele Pradè,” believing him to be primarily responsible for the team’s difficult situation. They wrote:

“As our history often dictates, we find ourselves facing another particularly difficult period, one of struggle, where we will need everyone (united) to overcome this situation. No one expected such a start, and this has certainly fuelled the discontent of a city that experiences its relationship with its team in a visceral and often irrational way.

“The desire to see our beloved local team equalise with glory against the Curva and the city is so strong that it inevitably leads us to want something more. At the end of the transfer window, we welcomed the new players with our usual start-of-the-year greeting, asking them to always give their all in every match, with their shirts soaked in sweat.”

However, despite the typically homely and passionate nature of the club, the fans haven’t been rewarded with exploits on the pitch. The statement continues, firmly pointing the finger at Pradè, “We wrote this at the end of May, after the end of last season, and time, unfortunately, is proving us right again.

“Given that the person we explicitly identified as the main culprit in the sporting chaos we have been in for years has obviously not had the courage to resign, given the increasingly obvious INTERESTS, we call on President Commisso and the management to do what would have been the right thing to do long ago: fire Daniele Pradè for the good of Fiorentina.”

The fans conclude: “With the clarity that distinguishes us, we announce that this will be the LAST time that the Curva Fiesole will discuss this topic in this way. A word to the wise is enough!”

There has also been doubt about Stefano Pioli’s future at Fiorentina and it seems like the next few weeks will dictate everything.
