Fiorentina do not seem eager to activate their option to buy Albert Gudmundsson from Genoa for €17m plus add-ons.
The Iceland international made the transfer on loan for €5.85m last summer with the clubs negotiating an option to make it permanent for €17m plus another €3m in add-ons.

He had a mixed campaign in the Viola jersey, contributing eight goals and three assists in 33 competitive games for the team.
A lot has changed, as Raffaele Palladino abruptly resigned and Fiorentina are close to securing Stefano Pioli as their new coach for the 2025-26 season.

It remains to be seen if they will try to keep Gudmundsson, but the Corriere dello Sport notes they are leaning towards the negative heading towards the June 24 deadline.
Fiorentina are trying to renegotiate a lower figure, aware that Genoa are also happy to get his salary off their books.
There is another alternative route, which is to renew the loan with similar terms, giving the player time to make his mark in Florence.
The other concern, which is also why Fiorentina were able to negotiate this as an option to buy rather than an obligation, is that Gudmundsson was cleared of sexual misconduct by a court in Iceland in October 2024.
There could still be an appeal, so the Tuscans want to be sure he is not going to face any further sanctions.
