Flaco López struck Breno Bidon with an elbow late in Corinthians v Palmeiras in the 11th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro, yet was not sent off. The Palmeiras forward did not even receive a yellow card.

According to Coluna Do Fla, Palmeiras regularly complain about officiating, but had not commented on the incident at the time of writing.

The flashpoint came as López moved into the penalty area under the close attention of Bidon. Trying to shake off the marker, he caught the Corinthians youngster, who went down in pain. Referee Flavio Rodrigues de Souza did not consult VAR.

Corinthians finished with nine men. André was dismissed in the first half for an obscene gesture, and Matheuzinho was then sent off for punching López.

The derby ended level. The result allowed Flamengo to close on the league leaders, moving to 20 points, six fewer than Abel Ferreira’s team, with a game in hand.
