Flamengo close in on signing Aiyran, 17, from Cuiabá | OneFootball

Flamengo are closing in on the signing of Aiyran from Cuiabá after the clubs reached agreement on Tuesday, with paperwork still to be exchanged. The 17-year-old forward is regarded as one of the standout talents of his age group.

According to Globo.com, the deal is set at R$ six million for 60% of the player’s economic rights. His release clause stood at R$ 10 million, a figure Flamengo were prepared to meet, but Cuiabá requested to retain a share.

Other Série A sides made enquiries, though Flamengo remained in pole position throughout talks. Recently he was called up by Brazil Under-17s among 25 players named by coach Carlos Eduardo Patetuci for friendlies against Venezuela at Granja Comary.

At 17 years, five months and 29 days, Aiyran became Cuiabá’s youngest first-team scorer when his goal sealed a 1-0 win over América-MG in Série B of the Brasileirão.

Born in São Gonçalo and raised in Niterói’s Barreto neighbourhood, he started in futsal at seven before switching to the pitch. After a brief spell in Fluminense’s academy, he joined Botafogo at 12, finished as top scorer and won the Taça Guanabara Sub-13, staying until the end of 2024.

Released by the Rio club, he had a trial period at Flamengo before a phone call altered his plans. Former Flamengo academy coordinator Thiago Aprigio, now at Cuiabá, knew the player and arranged his move in March 2025.
