Supporters joked it was hardly ideal before a final, with one asking if it was a gift. Varela told them he had swapped shirts with a rival after the most recent Fla-Flu.

He is likely to have simply forgotten to remove the item from the seat. The exchange appears to have happened on the way to the dressing room, as cameras did not show him with a Fluminense shirt on the pitch after full-time on Sunday 25.

As one fan noted in the video, Flamengo play the Supercopa Rei final this Sunday. They face Corinthians at Mané Garrincha from 16:00 Brasília time in the federal capital.
