Flamengo issue medical update on three players before São Paulo opener | OneFootball

Flamengo have ruled out Danilo, De La Cruz and Luiz Araújo for Wednesday’s Brasileirão opener at São Paulo, issuing a medical update ahead of the trip.

The club said in a statement that Danilo and De La Cruz continue planned work with the fitness staff, while Luiz Araújo is on load management after muscle pain.

Danilo played through late 2025 with a posterior cruciate ligament sprain in his left knee and remains on a recovery schedule. De La Cruz underwent a knee procedure and is with the medical department.

Head coach Filipe Luís, however, can call on Arrascaeta, Ayrton Lucas and Jorginho, who return after missing the Vasco and Fluminense games. Arrascaeta and Ayrton Lucas lacked ideal conditions, while Jorginho recovered from dental surgery. There is an expectation they will start.

Allan and Michael are also absent, not due to muscle problems. Allan is in talks to join São Paulo, and Michael is close to Santos.

The match at MorumBIS kicks off at 21:30 Brasília time on Wednesday 28, in the first round of the league. Globo, GE TV on YouTube and Premiere will broadcast.
