According to Coluna Do Fla, Flamengo president Luiz Eduardo Baptista has addressed speculation linking São Paulo striker Calleri to the club, stressing they focus on processes rather than individual names.

He said evaluating a player does not mean a formal approach, and even making contact does not guarantee talks will advance. Recruitment, he added, is handled by Boto, with whom he speaks when a target is flagged.

Baptista called Calleri a high-level player with a notable track record, particularly at São Paulo. He admitted some lingering frustration over the forward’s Maracanã goal in the 2023 Copa do Brasil final against Flamengo, yet wished him well and said he suits São Paulo, which he framed as a fan’s view.

Flamengo are not currently pursuing additions. They have signed three players this season, Lucas Paquetá, Andrew and Vitão, with the midfielder receiving the most opportunities so far.

Paquetá could start against Corinthians because Erick Pulgar is suspended after his third yellow card. The match is scheduled for 20:30 Brasília time on Sunday 22 at Neo Química Arena in the eighth round of the Campeonato Brasileiro, live on CazéTV on YouTube and on Premiere via pay-per-view.
