According to Globo.com, Flamengo lost to Volta Redonda and remain without a win in the Campeonato Carioca, with head coach Bruno Pivetti and the improvised full-back Carbone rated the worst performers.
Carbone, used at left-back after Johnny’s injury in the previous round, was sent off after two bookings inside 10 minutes. His first caution arrived at two minutes for a heavy challenge that could have seen a straight red. Pivetti was slow to adjust and only shored up the left side after conceding the opener.
Volta Redonda’s first goal came amid defensive errors. João Victor played Catatau onside, Iago failed to track the run, and both Alan Santos and Guilherme Gomes lost possession in the build-up. Kaio Nóbrega was then withdrawn to help re-shape the side.
Flamengo had a goal ruled out in the first half, with Joshua offside in the move, and Alan Santos also saw an effort disallowed. Daniel Sales supplied the pass for the chalked-off strike and later hit a good effort on 45 minutes.
After the break, Volta Redonda added a second, with poor marking from Wanderson and substitute Gusttavo, and one of their goals was also disallowed. Pablo Lúcio was viewed as the only player to show good moments, while goalkeeper Léo Nannetti was largely blameless despite some early jitters. Overall, the defence looked fragile throughout.
