Flamengo suffer three absences for Sampaio Corrêa clash in Campeonato Carioca | OneFootball

Flamengo face Sampaio Corrêa at the Maracanã on Saturday in the Campeonato Carioca’s sixth round, a match that could secure a knockout berth. The Rubro-Negro will be without three players.

According to Coluna Do Fla, head coach Filipe Luís will not have Jorginho, Saúl or Luiz Araújo available.

Jorginho felt muscle pain after the Supercopa against Corinthians, with scans this week confirming a left hamstring injury.

Saúl remains out as he recovers from surgery on his left ankle. Luiz Araújo also misses out with a right thigh muscle problem.

Flamengo have four points and a goal difference of -4, and are aiming to avoid the relegation quadrangular. A win is the only result that interests them.

Currently outside the qualification places, they must beat Sampaio Corrêa and hope for a slip from Madureira, Boavista or Nova Iguaçu.

The sole route without a win is a draw combined with Nova Iguaçu losing to Portuguesa by five goals or more.
