HLN are reporting that Flàvio Nazinho is set to leave Cercle Brugge to join Scottish giants Celtic. Despite Cercle Brugge’s struggles last season, Nazinho had an excellent campaign in his second season at the club. It has not been confirmed how much the player will cost Celtic, but it should give Cercle a profit on the €1m they spent to make his move from Sporting CP permanent.

The Belgian press are reporting that Nazinho will operate as a backup to Kieran Tierney, a role that Nazinho should be able to play well. After an indifferent first campaign with Cercle, in which he scored one goal and provided no assists in 23 games, the 2024/2025 season was a breakout one for the young defender. Nazinho had made a few appearances as a teenager for Sporting, but the 21-year-old took a leap last year. In 39 games he scored twice and grabbed six assists, with strong performances in both the league and the at European level in the Conference League. Nazinho is very much a modern right-back who likes to get forward and create chances. Nazinho also played for Portugal’s U21 side at the recent U21 Euros.

Cercle have had an active window, with a number of incomings, such as Pieter Gerkens, and then players like Felipe Augusto leaving the club.
