Florentino Perez backs Real Madrid superstar after tense night at Bernabeu – ‘The important thing is that you…’ | OneFootball

The fallout from Real Madrid’s win over Sevilla is still being felt inside the club, particularly around the figure of Vinicius Jr. 

According to a recent report from Defensa Central, club president Florentino Perez personally reached out to the Brazilian forward after he was whistled by sections of the Santiago Bernabeu crowd during the match.

Despite the victory, it was a difficult night on a personal level for Vinicius. The winger ended the game visibly disappointed, first with his own performance and then with the reaction from the stands. 

The boos came at different points during the match and intensified when Xabi Alonso decided to substitute him late on, bringing Gonzalo Garcia onto the pitch.

Words of wisdom from Perez

What made the situation more painful for Vinicius is the context. The Brazilian started the game wearing the captain’s armband. 

From his point of view, that responsibility and his past contributions to Real Madrid made the reaction from the crowd feel unfair. 

Aware of the emotional impact, Perez decided to intervene directly. The Real Madrid president wanted to send a message of calm, perspective and support to one of his key players.

In his conversation with Vinicius, Perez reminded him that being whistled at the Bernabéu is almost a rite of passage for the club’s biggest names. 

“You are one of the great Real Madrid players who have been booed here. 

“Zidane, Figo, Ronaldo, Benzema, Cristiano Ronaldo… they’ve all been whistled at and loved. 

“The important thing is that you know how to turn it around, and you will,” the president told the forward.

Within Real Madrid, there is a firm belief that Vinicius still has a decisive role to play this season. 

The club has offered him complete backing and hope that this episode serves as motivation rather than a setback.
