Fluminense and Vasco agree to play derbies at Maracanã in 2025-26

Fluminense and Vasco have decided that all the classics between the teams in 2025 and 2026 will be played at the Maracanã, ensuring organization and a fair division of the audience. The agreement also includes Flamengo, determining that all matches between Vasco and Flamengo during this period will also take place at the stadium.

The document was signed in April this year, with CEO Carlos Amodeo representing Vasco and president Mário Bittencourt for Fluminense. The agreement establishes that in the classics between Fluminense and Vasco, the audience will be divided 50% for each fan base, regardless of which team is the host.

The effect of the agreement was already observed this season. On May 24, Fluminense defeated Vasco 2-1 in the Brazilian Championship, and Vasco fans were entitled to half of the tickets, even though Tricolor was the host.

In an interview with the program Troca de Passes on Sportv, Carlos Amodeo explained:

– Vasco started negotiating not only with Flamengo but also with Fluminense for a much broader agreement than just the match on the 19th. We established that all matches, except those valid for the State Championship, in 2025 and 2026, will be played at Maracanã with 50% of the audience for each fan base.

The semifinals of the Copa do Brasil between Fluminense and Vasco are scheduled for December 10 and 14, Wednesday and Sunday, respectively. The CBF set the dates considering the Intercontinental Cup, which will start on December 10, if a Brazilian team wins the 2025 Libertadores.
