The first Club World Cup semi-final takes place in East Rutherford, New Jersey tonight as Chelsea face the tournament's surprise package, Fluminense, for a place in the final. These two sides have never met before but there's plenty that connects them together, one being Thiago Silva who comes up against the Blues a year on from leaving on a free transfer.

Despite his age, the 40-year-old has been a standout performer throughout the tournament. He is tasked with keeping tabs on compatriot and Chelsea summer signing Joao Pedro who began his career with Fluminense. The Brazilian has been handed his full debut by Blues boss Enzo Maresca with fellow striker Liam Delap missing out because of suspension.

This will be the third time that Chelsea have faced Brazilian opposition in the competition and a second victory over a South America side will see them return to the MetLife Stadium on Sunday for the 2025 Club World Cup final against either Paris Saint-Germain or Real Madrid.
