Betfair Saturday Football Superboost

It is a credit to Chris Wood's excellence this season that he is up there with Erling Haaland as one of the biggest attacking threats in the Premier League at the moment. Wood's Nottingham Forest travel to Ipswich while Haaland will lead the line for Man City at home to Brighton Saturday.

Betfair have boosted the odds on the pair each having one or more shots on target from 1/2 to 1/1 for this week's Saturday Football Superboost. With seven between them in their last six games we reckon it has a good chance of landng.

Leg 1 - Back Bayern Munich to beat Union Berlin @ 3/10

Bayern showcased the gulf between themselves and the other sides in the Bundesliga with a comprehensive 5-0 victory over Bayer Leverkusen across two legs in the Champions League. Xabi Alonso's side sit eight points behind the Bundesliga pace setters and Bayern can extend that gap to 11 with a victory against Union Berlin.

Bayern ran out 3-0 winners in the first league meeting between these sides this season at the Allianz Arena. The difference in quality between the sides was evident as Bayern dominated possession (78%-22%) as well as shots (16-8) and shots on target (7-1), which inevitably ended up in Bayern posting a far superior xG to their opponents (2.51-0.49).

Bayern have won eight of their 12 away assignments in the Bundesliga. They've only conceded 11 goals across these games which is the best defensive away record in the division. Union Berlin aren't the most prolific scorers at home, they've only found the back of the net 10 times across their 12 games at home this season - only two sides have scored fewer goals at home than Union Berlin in the Bundesliga this campaign (St Pauli and Heidenheim).

Union Berlin have lost three of their last five games, with two of these defeats seeing them fail to score, there is no bigger test in the Bundesliga than Vincent Kompany's Bayern side who should be able to record a victory with little hassle here.

Leg 2 - Back Wolves to beat Southampton @ 10/11

Wolves still have some work to do to pull clear of the Premier League dropzone. Vitor Pereira's men are six points clear of chasers Ipswich but can open that gap up to nine points with a win here. Ipswich have an awkward task at home against Nottingham Forest to manage, which will further encourage Wolves to walk away with all three points from the south coast.

Southampton are stuck in a rut having accepted their seemingly inevitable relegation to the Championship next season. Ivan Juric's men have lost each of their last five games across all competitions, conceding 15 goals in this run of games and finding the back of the net just twice. Southampton have only won one game at St Mary's this season, which came under Russell Martin against Everton. Juric hasn't managed to get any sort of tune out of this side.

Wolves ran out 2-0 winners in the initial meeting between these sides this term and look a lot more secure under the tutelage of Vitor Pereira. Despite Wolves' inconsistencies this season which sees them sit 17th in the league table, there is still a noticeable difference in quality here. This should show itself again here with Wolves well placed to open up a considerable gap between themselves and the relegation zone.

Leg 3 - Back Birmingham to beat Northampton @ 8/15

Birmingham travel to Northampton in the next step of the seemingly inevitable road to the League One title this season. Chris Davies' side have topped many metrics in League One this season including having kept 18 clean sheets.

Birmingham control the majority of games they're involved in at this level, their squad is a cut above the rest which is evident in the 14 point lead they've established at the top of the table. They face a Northampton side that are probably just about safe from the drop this campaign, but they haven't been particularly strong at home.

Northampton have won just six of their 17 home games in League One this season and finding the back of the net has also been a struggle, Kevin Nolan's side have scored 18 goals across these games - only two sides have scored fewer goals at home this campaign. They actually did quite well to hold Birmingham to a 1-1 draw in the initial meeting between the sides, but the underlying numbers from that game suggest that this is unlikely to happen again.

Northampton scored their equaliser in the 96th minute and only had five shots in the game to Birmingham's 23. Birmingham also controlled possession, as they have all season, having 78% of the ball in the initial encounter, which suggests that the travelling side will be on top for large portions of the game here.

Birmingham have won nine of their 16 games on the road this campaign and will be confident in crossing into double digits for away wins with a victory here. They've only conceded 15 goals across these away fixtures which is the second best defensive away record in the league.

Leg 4 - Back Bournemouth to beat Brentford @ 8/13

Bournemouth's form has been patchy of late, but they have a good opportunity to bounce back here against a Brentford side that haven't travelled well this season. Thomas Frank's side rank 15th for their away form in the Premier League this season, with just four wins from their 13 assignments.

Bournemouth have won six of their 13 games at the Vitality Stadium this term, which isn't the most standout record, but perhaps isn't reflective of some of the impressive performances they've managed at home this campaign. They've seen off Tottenham, Arsenal and Man City at home this campaign, with their high pressing style combining well with the tight pitch at the Vitality.

Brentford have managed to win their last two away games which has improved their away record slightly, but the Bees are still vulnerable when away from West London which is a platform that Bournemouth can use to get back to winning ways here.
