A 39-year-old Italian Football Manager devotee travelled 1,600 km to watch Coleraine’s final match of the season after falling for the Northern Irish club in the game.

Andrea Lai, from Imola, headed to Coleraine on Saturday to see the league match against Glentoran, which finished 6-2 to his adopted side. He began his first Coleraine save seven years ago.

"I started a save with this amateur team and loved it straight away," he told BBC Northern Ireland.

"It was huge for me because I had thought about coming for years, but it was too far."

Founded in 1927, Coleraine have won the league once, in 1973, along with six Irish Cups and two League Cups.

The victory secured 2nd place in the Northern Irish top flight and a berth in the Europa Conference League qualifiers. They previously featured in 2021, going out in the first qualifying round.
