Nottingham Forest have reiterated their commitment to redevelop the City Ground and signalled that further updates are close. In their latest accounts, the club said the rebuild remains a key objective, with progress made and stakeholder news expected in the near future.
The Reds first set out plans to modernise their home in 2019. Seven years on, work has yet to start and the scheme has been revised, with planning applications for the updated project lodged earlier this year.
The accounts to 30 June 2025 record an operating loss of £64.9m, down from £73.3m the previous year. The loss before tax was £78.9m, compared with a £12.1m profit in 2024.
Talk of a rebuild aiding ambitions to prosper in the Premier League comes as Vitor Pereira’s side battle to stay up. With seven games remaining, they sit three points above the relegation zone.
Forest’s current vision focuses on increasing capacity to more than 50,000 and delivering an iconic, sustainable design. The project is backed by owner Evangelos Marinakis and represents significant investment.
Earlier proposals to expand the City Ground were approved by Rushcliffe Borough Council. The latest plan seeks a substantially larger redevelopment than that original approval.
