3 Premier League out-of-contract stars Wrexham AFC should consider signing this summer.
Wrexham AFC have been linked with a sensational move for Leicester City legend Jamie Vardy, but surely he won't be the only former Premier League star the Red Dragons will target.
The Hollywood-owned side wrapped up promotion to the Championship with a game to spare, following their 3-0 win over Charlton Athletic on Saturday evening, becoming the first team in English football history to achieve back-to-back-to-back promotions.
Now, Phil Parkinson's side can prepare for life in the second-tier for the first time since 1982. With the hype surrounding the Welsh club, there will be some rather high-profile players linked with a transfer to the Racecourse Ground, as we've seen already with Vardy.
However, the Wrexham boss has recently admitted that he will operate a "no superstars, no egos in the dressing room" policy when it comes to the club's summer recruitment, but he is intent on pursuing free agents released by Premier League clubs.
With this recent admission in mind, Football League World decided to take a look at three potentially out-of-contract Premier League stars that Wrexham could sign in the upcoming transfer window.
Long-serving Tottenham Hotspur defender Ben Davies is out of contract this summer, after spending over a decade with the London club which has seen him make over 350 appearances in all competitions.
The Wales international defender has also been capped just under 100 times for his country, but has found game time under Ange Postecoglou hard to come by in the last two years.
Should he head back to his home country for the next chapter of his career, the 32-year-old could be a real hit for Wrexham in the Championship.
A left-sided centre-back, Davies fits Parkinson's system perfectly, and will compliment younger defenders such as Max Cleworth very nicely, bringing a plethora of experience to the Red Dragons' backline.
This one may not make much sense to Wrexham supporters, as they already have a very capable number one goalkeeper in Arthur Okonkwo.
However, the quality of depth in goal for the Red Dragons is limited, with Callum Burton, Luke McNicholas and Mark Howard on the books at the Racecourse Ground.
Whilst none of those mentioned above are poor keepers by any stretch of the imagination, you can't help but feel the Welsh side need someone who has plenty of recent Championship experience.
That's why Asmir Begovic would be a smart coup for Wrexham. With plenty of experience in the Premier League and Championship, the Bosnian could be excellent cover and competition for Okonkwo, and a great mentor for the young goalkeeper to learn from.
Another option at centre-back that the Red Dragons could explore is Craig Dawson. The former Wolverhampton Wanderers captain has been told that he has no future at Molineux under Vitor Pereira, and will leave in the summer.
Despite his lack of action this season, the 34-year-old has always proven to be a reliable option at centre-back in the Premier League during his time with Wolves.
With a move to the Championship likely next season, the ex-West Brom defender could be tempted by a switch to North Wales rather than moving to one of the second tier's title favourites.
As mentioned above about Davies, Dawson offers a very similar option to the Welshman, who is also used to playing in a system with three centre-backs. His experience would certainly help young Cleworth as well. The 21-year-old is a very similar type of defender to the veteran.
