Two years after making his most recent proffesional appearance, Mohamed Ihattaren has joined a new club. This time, the former Ajax, PSV and Juventus talent has returned to the Eredivisie to play for RKC Waalwijk. The 22-year-old has signed a short-term contract at the Mandemakers Stadion, valid until the end of the campaign. The deal also includes the option to extend for an additional year.

Mohamed Ihattaren appeared to have a huge future ahead of him when he broke into PSV’s first team in 2018. The attacker netted 10 goals and provided 11 assists at the Philips Stadion before making a relatively big money move to Juventus. Things didn’t work out for the former Netherlands youth international in Serie A. Reportedly, attitude issues hindered his potential and he was loaned out to Sampdoria, then Ajax. In Amsterdam, he spent most of his time playing for Jong Ajax.

Moves to Samsunspor and Slavia Prague followed for Ihattaren, but both ended quickly and without him making a single appearance. Now, RKC Waalwijk have handed him the opportunity to revive his career.  ‘I am grateful that RKC has given me the opportunity to be active as a footballer again and to keep myself busy with what I love to do,’ Mohamed Ihattaren told the club website. ‘The conversations with Mo Allach and Henk Fraser gave me the warm feeling I was looking for. I therefore look forward to joining the group and helping the club maintain itself again in the first division this season.’
