Former Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah joined Crystal Palace in a summer transfer last August, and it didn’t take him long to get on the scoresheet.

In just his second appearance for his new side, Nketiah netted against QPR in the League Cup, and he went on to score against Arsenal in the quarter-finals of the competition.

Yet Nketiah’s Premier League campaign was a different story, as he went on an 18-game drought without a goal in the competition. Only six of those were starts, and he did provide an assist against Brighton, but he had to wait until Tuesday for his first goal.

That eventual goal against Aston Villa was typical of Nketiah, with the striker finding space in the box for a tap-in. The former Gunner had only come on for Palace in the 86th minute, scoring five minutes later in injury time.

Nketiah’s teammates were evidently delighted to see him scoring, celebrating raucously and mobbing him over by the corner flag.

With any luck, the floodgates will now open for Nketiah, and he can work his way into the Palace starting lineup. Though if he does find form, hopefully it will be with the exception of Palace’s trip to the Emirates Stadium on April 26th.
