Although not really a legend of the club, the Italian trainer Fabio Capello is one of the more notable managers to have led the Real Madrid team in the last few decades.

After a highly successful managerial career at AC Milan, with whom he won 1 UEFA Champions League and four Serie A titles, the Italian had two stints at the Merengue club, for the 1996-97 and the 2006-07 seasons, and won the La Liga title on both of these occasions.

The trainer is now retired but frequently comments on the state of some of his former clubs. As Mundo Deportivo has reported, he recently spoke to the media, and one of the topics he addressed was the arrival of Kylian Mbappe at the white club.

The former coach had a very clear piece of advice for the French World Cup winner:

“When a great star joins Real, they need to understand that they have to work just like any other player. Because in that club, there isn’t just one star; there are many.”

Like Capello, Carlo Ancelotti is another coach who has worked at both Real Madrid and AC Milan. Ancelotti also had two stints at Real Madrid, but his time at the Merengue club has been significantly more successful than that of Capello, as he has already won 3 UEFA Champions Leagues with Los Blancos.

In this same interview, Capello showed full confidence in Ancelotti’s ability to get Real Madrid back to their best soon:

“I think Carlo Ancelotti needs time, but he knows a lot… Soon, Carlo will find the right balance to achieve victories.”

Capello’s advice to Mbappe certainly has a lot of merit, but several players have already clarified that Mbappe is adapting well at the club, and is working with a lot of humility. Hopefully, this will become apparent to all the observers in the months to come, as the Frenchman has already started firing for his new team.
