Real Madrid take on Borussia Dortmund in less than half an hour at the Santiago Bernabeu in the UEFA Champions League.

This match serves as a precursor for El Clasico this coming Saturday, October 26, as Los Blancos host bitter rivals Barcelona at the Bernabeu.

These two matches could define the direction that the season of a Real Madrid team, that has been living with doubts and criticism since the onset of the campaign, takes.

Ahead of tonight’s encounter, former Real Madrid footballer and director, Predrag Mijatovic sought to calm this situation, asking fans to have faith in manager Carlo Ancelotti following the iffy start to the season.

“We’ve had a European Championship and the players have arrived late and very tired. It’s something that needs to be fixed, I’m sure, but with patience,” said Mijatovic on SER (h/t Mundo Deportivo).

“We must have confidence in Ancelotti, we’re in October and it’s very early. I know it’s a bit difficult because I was there inside and it’s not easy for the team to play well from the first matchday,” Mijatovic added.

Regarding tonight’s match and El Clasico, the former Real Madrid player remarked: “These are weeks that are always complicated. We need to play a good match this week against a demanding opponent like Borussia Dortmund.

“Before El Clasico, we need to face this match. The players live at a different rhythm than us and are capable of separating the two matches.”

Ancelotti has made some notable changes to the team for tonight’s game against Borussia Dortmund, notably going in without the midfield duo of Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga, while placing his faith in captain Luka Modric.
