After hanging up his boots following a long playing career, Redfearn largely built experience in various management and coaching roles in the men’s game. He also impressed coaching young players within high-class academy environments.

In more recent times, Redfearn has worked in the women’s professional game. He was head coach at Doncaster Rovers Belles for a short time before taking up a similar position at Liverpool. Redfearn’s most-recent women’s coaching role saw him lead Sheffield United from 2020 to 2022. He kept The Blades competitive in Barclays WSL2.

Redfearn’s latest role sees him take charge of a Durham side that are just three points above the relegation zone in Barclays WSL2. The Wildcats have six games remaining to get over the line and secure their second tier status for another year. Durham are on the road as they face Ipswich Town this afternoon.

Redfearn replaces current first team head coach Adam Furness who will remain at the club in another capacity.
