Four defeats in five: Egyptian-Tunisian forward Haissem Hassan in heated fallout with Oviedo coach
Tensions continue to rise at Real Oviedo between striker Haissem Hassan of Egyptian & Tunisian descent and Serbian head coach Veljko Paunovic.
Oviedo fell 1 - 0 to Elche on Sunday, their 4th loss in 5 league match dropping them to 17th place with just 3 point.
According to Marca, the latest flashpoint came during cooling break in the 1st half. With Oviedo trailing, Paunovic urged Hassan to stay focused. Frustrated by the player's distraction, the coach told him:
"We stay here, Hassan. I can’t keep calling you all together"
Ongoing conflict
The row traces back to 30 Aug against Real Sociedad when Hassan complained about not starting despite creating the winning goal.
The club later issued statement rejecting his reaction stressing it went against the values of the Pachuca group & Oviedo.
After the new incident against Elche, Oviedo're expected to consider stricter disciplinary action against the 22 year old forward.
