Four full-backs Liverpool could target to ease injury crisis

Liverpool looked unlikely to enter the January transfer window for new signings, but injuries to Conor Bradley and Jeremie Frimpong could alter that stance before Monday's deadline.

Bradley has been ruled out for the remainder of the campaign, while tests will determine the length of Frimpong's absence after he was withdrawn against Qarabag on Wednesday night.

Those injuries leaveLiverpool without a recognised senior option at right-back, with Arne Slot to decide between makeshift options or market opportunities in the coming days.

We've profiled four full-backs who could be of interest to the Reds' recruitment team.

Ben White - Arsenal

An ambitious and, admittedly, unlikely addition but one that could kill two birds with one stone.Liverpool lack depth at centre-back alongside their right-back emergency, two roles that White can fulfil to the highest standard.

The 28-year-old has started just five games in thePremier League this season and could be tempted by the prospect of more regular first-team football.

The problem, however, will be convincing White to leave a title challenge andArsenal to sell. Mikel Arteta has stockpiled defenders in his squad for a reason, as the Gunners compete on four fronts. Liverpool might be adrift in the title race, but the Reds could rival Arsenal in Europe.

Joel Ordonez - Club Brugge

Liverpool were strongly linked with Joel Ordonez earlier in the window but the rumours of interest from Anfield have quietened down. Though predominantly a centre-back, the Ecuadorian could operate at right-back when required, as Joe Gomez has done under Slot.

At 21, Ordonez is raw, but is a player with high potential. Brugge are demanding around €35m, a fee that could make sense givenLiverpool's need for reinforcements.

Givairo Read, of Feyenoord, is another player onLiverpool's list but the teenager is sidelined until March with a hamstring issue.

Oscar Mingueza - Celta Vigo

Oscar Mingueza certainly fits the bill as a market opportunity this month. The Celta Vigo defender has entered the final six months of his deal with the Spanish side and could be available for a knockdown price before the deadline.

Mingueza has earned four caps for Spain at senior level and impressed as one of La Liga's leading full-backs in 2024-25. He scored four goals and provided six assists for Celta, while an ability to cover at centre-back or on the right of midfield add to his appeal.

At 26, the Barcelona academy product could make an immediate impact. Juventus and Aston Villa have also been linked for Mingueza, valued at around £17m.

Sacha Boey - Bayern Munich

Another right-back whose situation improves his appeal. Sacha Boey has found himself on the fringes at Bayern Munich with competition from Joshua Kimmich, Josip Stanisic and Konrad Laimer for a place in the team.

The Frenchman has started just five Bundesliga games this season and has been repeatedly linked with an exit from the Allianz Arena. A loan deal until the end of the campaign could suit all parties.

Liverpool's absences mean Boey would be likely to earn more regular football, without the Reds needing to sign a player permanently and congest a squad that already contains Bradley and Frimpong.
