FPF reschedules Corinthians’ Paulistão match due to the Supercopa

The São Paulo Football Federation (FPF) has officially announced a change in the schedule of the Paulista Championship involving Corinthians. The match against Capivariano, valid for the sixth round of the state competition, has had its date changed and will now be played on February 5th, a Thursday, at 8:30 PM (Brasília time), at the Neo Química Arena.

Initially scheduled for January 31st, the match had to be rescheduled due to Timão's commitments outside the state championship. On the day following the original date of the game, the alvinegro club will play in the Supercopa do Brasil, facing Flamengo at the Mané Garrincha Stadium in Brasília on February 1st.

The new scheduling means that the commitment against Capivariano precedes one of the most anticipated games at the start of the season, as three days later, on Sunday (8th), Corinthians hosts Palmeiras in the first Derby of 2026, also at the Neo Química Arena, in a sequence that requires special attention from the technical team led by Dorival Júnior.

The São Paulo club's calendar, in fact, will be especially intense at the beginning of February. In a span of just six days, Corinthians will have six matches ahead: five in the Paulistão and one in the Brazilian Championship, against Bahia, with the base date set for January 28th.

The marathon of games is a reflection of the structural changes in the national calendar, implemented since 2025. The main change was the early start of the Brasileirão, which began to be played in January. Simultaneously, the Paulistão also underwent reforms, with a shorter first phase composed of eight rounds, following a model inspired by the current format of the UEFA Champions League.
