FPF stands down Lucas Canetto Bellote after criticised display in Santos 1-1 Corinthians | OneFootball

The Federação Paulista de Futebol has stood down referee Lucas Canetto Bellote after his display in Santos 1-1 Corinthians on Thursday 22 at Vila Belmiro. According to Diario Do Peixe, the decision was taken on Friday 23 by the federation's board and its refereeing commission.

Internally, the commission judged the officiating to have been awful, assessing not only decisive incidents but the overall management of the game. Bellote will not be appointed this weekend and will enter a retraining period.

Both teams lodged strong complaints. Corinthians disputed a late foul on the edge of the area that led to Gabigol's equaliser. Santos criticised the frequent stoppages and the volume of cards.

In total, he issued eight cards to Santos, including head coach Juan Pablo Vojvoda, and six to Corinthians, including head coach Dorival Júnior.

Bellote had initially been assigned as VAR for Capivariano v Primavera on Sunday 25, in the fifth round of the State competition, but was removed from that duty after review. He will sit out the next Paulistão rounds while he undergoes evaluation and retraining.
