François Letexier to referee Côte d'Ivoire v Ecuador after Michael Oliver injury

François Letexier has been appointed to take charge of Côte d'Ivoire v Ecuador at the 2026 World Cup, replacing the injured Michael Oliver. The Group E fixture is scheduled for the night from Sunday to Monday, with kick-off at one am.
According to L'Équipe, it will be the Frenchman's first match of the tournament, and he will be assisted by his regular team.
Letexier is one of two French referees selected for this World Cup, alongside Clément Turpin. He was voted Ligue 1's best referee in 2023 and 2024.
At 37, the Breton official has established himself among Europe's leading referees.
He oversaw the Euro 2024 final, then was appointed to this season's Europa League final, won by Aston Villa.
