Benfica face a wait over Fredrik Aursnes after he started against Gil Vicente then went off at half-time, with Porto due at Estádio da Luz on Sunday, 8 March.
A Bola reports that the 30-year-old will be re-assessed to determine the severity of an issue that has bothered him in recent weeks.
He is set for a battery of tests to gauge his condition as Benfica step up preparations for the Clássico.
The situation is considered complicated and there are no guarantees he will recover in time to be among José Mourinho’s options for the match. Mourinho addressed the injury in the aftermath in Barcelos.
This season Aursnes, valued at 17 million euros, has played 43 matches for Benfica across 3,635 minutes, scoring four goals with seven assists. His appearances include 22 in Liga Portugal Betclic, 14 in the Champions League, four in the Taça de Portugal, two in the Taça da Liga and one in the Supertaça.
