Neil El Aynaoui played a stunning Africa Cup of Nations.
His only remaining goal in the competition was a final victory to bring the trophy back to Morocco after 50 years, but Senegal prevailed in the craziest final ever.
Despite the mistake against the Teranga Lions that led to Pape Gueye’s 94th-minute extra-time goal, his performances have attracted interest from Europe’s top clubs.
According to a report from Morocco by the Lion Times, Real Madrid is tracking Roma’s No. 8.
Arriving in the summer from Lens, El Aynaoui hasn’t yet had the chance to fully demonstrate his talent for Roma. Since arriving in the capital, he’s worn the Giallorossi colors 18 times, for a total of 935 minutes, scoring one goal and providing one assist.
He now has the entire second half of the season to step up and take control of the Roman club’s midfield.
We’ll see in the summer; the only certainty is that if an off-market offer were to arrive, Roma might accept, but much will also depend on whether they qualify for the Champions League, which would give the Giallorossi greater financial strength.
