Levante chief executive José Danvila has ruled out a possible January move for their coveted youngster Etta Eyong amid interest from Manchester City, as per reports from Spain.

The eight-time Premier League champions have previously scouted out of Spain and as a result, have ended up with some of the best talent in the world since the club’s Abu Dhabi takeover in 2008.

In 2019, Pep Guardiola brought in Ballon d’Or winner Rodri from Atletico Madrid, while other success stories include David Silva, Aymeric Laporte, Jesus Navas – all of whom have played over 1,000 games for the club in total.

Manchester City have been previously reported to hold an interest in Levante and Cameroon forward Etta Eyong as Guardiola eyes prospective reinforcements for his frontline, but reports in Spain have rebutted the possibility of the 22-year-old moving to the Etihad Stadium in January 2026.

Levante CEO José Danvila has ruled out a potential mid-season exit for the attacker, who has scored six goals and contributed three assists from 11 league appearances this season.

“No,” Davila told Radio Marca, as relayed by Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo. “In fact, I’m already hearing some rumours about Etta Eyong. We receive offers for him everyday.

“The player isn’t going to be sold. He won’t leave this winter. Mainly because our priority is to stay up. It doesn’t make sense to make an effort in the summer and then sell him in the winter.

“The club’s greatest asset is staying in the first division, even if a very large sum of money comes in.”

Interest around Eyong has grown over recent weeks due to his outstanding performances for Levante, who sit 16th in the La Liga table, having won just twice from 11 league games so far this season.

Other Premier League clubs – such as Manchester United and Arsenal – have had their sights set on the striker, though a move now looks unfeasible for any club.

Barcelona are thought to also hold some hope to sign Eyong, who has a contract valid until 2029 at Levante, but Davila stated that Hansi Flick’s side haven’t contacted their Spanish counterparts.

Manchester City are not expected to be very active in the January 2026 transfer window but could scout the market for openings that are deemed too good to look past – as Hugo Viana and co did with Gianluigi Donnarumma in the summer.
