Fulham have opened talks to sign Manchester City winger Oscar Bobb, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Manager Marco Silva is eager to strengthen his squad. His team are 11th in the Premier League table, just five points off fourth-placed Liverpool.
Securing Champions League football might be a step too far, but Fulham have a serious chance of qualifying for Europe this season.
Silva is keen to make sure his Fulham squad is in the best possible position to push for a top-seven finish, and the board has decided to back him this January.
Fulham are hoping to make Bobb their first winter addition and have tabled a £35 million bid.
The Norwegian winger has struggled to establish himself in the Man City first team squad since progressing through the club’s revered academy.
Injuries have also impacted his development, with Bobb managing just 47 appearances for the senior team. However, that hasn’t stopped Fulham from exploring a deal.
Silva already has experience with rejuvenating players who flopped in previous clubs.
He has transformed Raul Jimenez and Emile Smith Rowe, and Bobb could be the latest to thrive under his leadership.
Bobb has made 15 appearances for Man City this season. Nine have come in the Premier League, but he has only been named in the starting XI five times.
With Antoine Semenyo coming in, the Norwegian’s battle for first-team minutes becomes more complicated.
Semenyo can play on either side of the frontline, and his arrival pushes Bobb further down the pecking order. Man City are willing to sanction a permanent move for Bobb.
