After initially deeming Casemiro an unsuitable fit for his newly implemented system at Old Trafford, Ruben Amorim is preparing for a future with the Brazilian at the heart of his team.
Indeed, the Manchester United boss has now indicated to INEOS chiefs that he would like to keep Casemiro beyond his current deal, which is due to expire in June 2026.

United do have the option of extending his stay to 2027 via a 12-month option, but doing so would mean the veteran continues earning wages in the region of £300,000 per week, hence the need for talks to take place, as per TalkSPORT.
The club are unwilling to continue forking out such a hefty fee for an ageing player, even if he is one of Amorim’s most reliable lieutenants as things stand; only five of the 20 goals United have conceded this term have happened when Casemiro is on the field.
The departures of David de Gea, Raphael Varane and Marcus Rashford over the last few years led to the 33-year-old establishing himself as United’s highest earner, though Bruno Fernandes’ salary was bumped up back in 2024 to accurately reflect his integral role at Old Trafford.

Casemiro has started nine of the 11 Premier League matches played this campaign, missing out against Chelsea entirely due to suspension and being utilised off the bench in the last 10 minutes of the Manchester derby.
Remarkably, he has returned three goals and one assist thus far, with three contributions coming in his last three outings.
After he oversaw a stellar shift during the side’s 2-1 triumph at Anfield last month, Rio Ferdinand poured praise on Casemiro, saying: “He was outstanding in that first-half yesterday.
“I think his positional sense and awareness in that midfield area in a big game like that was invaluable.”
Over the break, he’ll likely be adding to his 80 Brazil caps, having been called up by Carlo Ancelotti for their friendlies against Senegal and Tunisia.
