A funny moment at the end of the Sky Sports interview with Callum McGregor and Liam Scales after Celtic’s 2-1 win against Hibs at Easter Road…

Normally the player winning the Man of the Match is presented with his champagne by his teammate joining him in the post-match interview. And when the Celtic captain was asked by Luke Shanley from Sky Sports to present the prize to the Man of the Match he understandably thought that Scales was getting the award – despite giving away the Hibs penalty.

However it was not for Scales, but for Daizen Maeda who doesn’t really do these interviews due to his lack of English.

“I’ve got another job for you, can I hand over this award, the William Hill Premiership player of the match…”

And Calmac at this stage turns to Liam Scales and begins to shake his hand to offer his congratulations, albeit with a somewhat confused look on his face, as Shanley continued saying…”to Daizen Maeda.”

Callum McGregor, amid the laughter said: “I was thinking how has he got a handball and still got man of the match!”

First half goals from Daizen Maeda and Arne Engels were enough, despite Boyle scoring from the spot to bring Hibs back into the game with a half hour to play. Celtic never really got going in an attacking sense in the second half, no-doubt as a consequence of the Europa League match in Rotterdam against Feyenoord on Thursday night.

The result was brilliant, the performance less so but in games like this it’s all about picking up the three points and that’s what Celtic did this afternoon. Three tough away matches in a week have been won and now Celtic can enjoy three consecutive matches at Celtic Park, with Martin O’Neill in charge for the first one (at least) against Dundee on Wednesday night.
