Gabigol trains as Santos complete second pre-season session before Paulistão opener | OneFootball

Gabigol trained with Santos on Saturday as the club completed their second pre-season session. Juan Pablo Vojvoda’s side are building towards the Paulistão opener against Novorizontino on Saturday 10 at 16:00, at Vila Belmiro.

According to Diario Do Peixe, the squad worked across two periods, underwent tests, then moved into technical and tactical drills and set-piece work.

The headline arrival was striker Gabriel Barbosa, officially unveiled as the club’s first reinforcement of the year. On loan from Cruzeiro until the end of the year, the centre-forward impressed with his fitness.

Neymar Jr was absent and is expected to report back from Monday, five January. The number 10 is recovering from arthroscopy on his left knee.

Compared with last season, attacking midfielder Miguelito has returned from a loan at América-MG. Santos have signed defender Zé Ivaldo and attacker Barreal on permanent deals, and sold forward Guilherme to Houston Dynamo, USA.

João Fernandes and Andrey Quintino have been loaned to Confiança-SE, while defender Luisão has joined Goiás. Some players have been told to seek new clubs despite training, with right-back Mayke and forwards Gustavo Caballero, Billal Brahimi and Tiquinho Soares facing an uncertain future.
